FAMILY in NEED -Household Items and toddler items

This is from Sister Hernandez:

The brother of the family that I work for has had a fire that took everything they had. Thank goodness that no one in their family was hurt but they lost all of their possessions. If anyone is able to help with any household items or toddler things (they have a son that is 2) please contact me.
They do have shelter with family. Thank you in advance for your kindness.

Urgent need for old Church Magazines

Sisters,

I am looking for any old Church magazines (plus any other magazines) you can donate for my seminary class this Friday December 3rd.

I'm going to have the students create collages for things to do on the Sabbath. I can pick them up anytime this week.

Christmas Packages for our Missionaries

Sister Belliston, our mission president’s wife, has concerns that a few of our Maryland, Baltimore missionaries may not receive Christmas packages from home. She asked if perhaps some of our dear stake sisters might like to take this on as a project for 5-6 missionaries and provide a nice “care package”. If you wish to be involved in this service project, please, contact sister Olga Campora.

Update as of 12/2 - It's all covered. We had enough sisters who signed up to help with the packages. Sisters, you're awesome! Thank you!

LAP BLANKETS FOR HOSPICE

(From the Stake Relief Society Presidency)

Dear Sisters,

If you accepted lap blankets at our Stake Relief Society Leadership meeting, thank you very much for being willing to add extra service to your busy lives! It is getting cold fast, and I am writing to remind you of our deadline for getting the completed lap blankets back, so that we can deliver them to the hospice. We would like to have all blankets returned by November 21st to the stake center. There is a worldwide training meeting tomorrow, Saturday, November 13th, so I will have a plastic bin set up in the Relief Society room for anyone who has already finished and would like to turn their blankets in at that time. If you need to make other arrangements to turn them in, please email me and we can work something out. If you did not take blankets at our Stake Leadership Meeting, please disregard this message.

Activity Tonight Wedensday, November 10th

Sisters,
Tonight is our Breast Cancer Awareness Night and Service Activity at 7pm. Please, if you can, bring a pair of scissors, any extra fabric or thread you might have, and if you have one, a sewing machine. The more supplies and sisters we have- the more arm pillow and drainage bags we can get done to bless the lives of women in breast cancer treatment. We will be giving them to the speaker from JHU to take back with her to give to women going through treatment.

Thank you and see you this evening!

A dryer to give away

I have an older model Kitchen Aid Clothes Dryer to give away to anyone who would like to take it. I have no idea of the year (it was left in with the house when it was purchased), but it DOES work. It is clean and has been well taken care of. I’ve away on Monday when the new one comes, unless we have a taker.

Annual Meetinghouse Clean-Up Day

Annual Meetinghouse Clean-Up Day
Brother and Sisters,

As many of you know, Saturday (November 6) is the stake center clean up day. We will start at 8am and work until our area is finished. We will have the blue section on the attached document. We have both inside and outside responsibilities. Please bring rakes, tarps, gloves, brooms. etc. for leaf removal and parking lot clean up. It also might be good to bring general cleaning supplies (sponges, scrubber, etc) because I don't know what will be available at the building.

We invite all to participate. This is a great chance to show the Lord our gratitude for such a nice building to worship and have activities in. It is also a great opportunity to work side by side with our ward family. We love you all and hope to see you on Saturday. Remember, many hand make lighter work.

Thank you for your service,

Mike Blasko

Bring Used Kids Clothes to Church for Donation

FOR CHILDREN IN PERU

Sister Aracelli Flores from the Spanish Branch, is going to go to visit her homeland in Peru in January 2011, and she has asked sisters in our ward who have any extra children clothing to consider to donate some of them for children in Peru. If you feel like you might have clothing to donate, here is more detail from Sister Flores:

I will be collecting clothes for both BOYS and GIRLS, ages 0 to 7. It will be a summertime in January, so summer clothes would work best. Shoes may be too heavy and take up too much space, but we will do our best to fit in what we can.

The place of collection will be by the kitchen at Church in a big box labeled "FOR CHILDREN IN PERU".
