Christmas Packages for our Missionaries
Sister Belliston, our mission president’s wife, has concerns that a few of our Maryland, Baltimore missionaries may not receive Christmas packages from home. She asked if perhaps some of our dear stake sisters might like to take this on as a project for 5-6 missionaries and provide a nice “care package”. If you wish to be involved in this service project, please, contact sister Olga Campora.
Update as of 12/2 - It's all covered. We had enough sisters who signed up to help with the packages. Sisters, you're awesome! Thank you!

Annual Meetinghouse Clean-Up Day
Annual Meetinghouse Clean-Up Day |
Brother and Sisters, As many of you know, Saturday (November 6) is the stake center clean up day. We will start at 8am and work until our area is finished. We will have the blue section on the attached document. We have both inside and outside responsibilities. Please bring rakes, tarps, gloves, brooms. etc. for leaf removal and parking lot clean up. It also might be good to bring general cleaning supplies (sponges, scrubber, etc) because I don't know what will be available at the building. We invite all to participate. This is a great chance to show the Lord our gratitude for such a nice building to worship and have activities in. It is also a great opportunity to work side by side with our ward family. We love you all and hope to see you on Saturday. Remember, many hand make lighter work. Thank you for your service, Mike Blasko |

Bring Used Kids Clothes to Church for Donation
FOR CHILDREN IN PERU
Sister Aracelli Flores from the Spanish Branch, is going to go to visit her homeland in Peru in January 2011, and she has asked sisters in our ward who have any extra children clothing to consider to donate some of them for children in Peru. If you feel like you might have clothing to donate, here is more detail from Sister Flores:
I will be collecting clothes for both BOYS and GIRLS, ages 0 to 7. It will be a summertime in January, so summer clothes would work best. Shoes may be too heavy and take up too much space, but we will do our best to fit in what we can.
The place of collection will be by the kitchen at Church in a big box labeled "FOR CHILDREN IN PERU".

Candlelight Vigil
This is the first time our county has had a domestic violence awareness candlelight vigil; part of the reason why they are having one now is because of Shane Wynn's death. Either Greg Isaac (the father of Shane's two oldest children) or I (Sarah Ann Cox) will be speaking for about two minutes at some point during the vigil. The Domestic Violence Center is connected to the Grassroots Women's shelter, which (for those of you who used to be in Savage Mill, like me) we used to make sack lunches for now and again.
Here are the details:

Knitting Skills
Sisters;
We have a 99 years old sister, Beinin Mary Louise, who would love to do a little bit of knitting. Her home teacher has approached RS and asked us, if there would be any sister, who has knitting skills and would love to visit with sister Beinin to get her started.
FYI, sister Beinin has two skeins of yarn, knitting needles and a pattern book with her in her room and that she has selected the pattern for knitting a 1 square meter blanket with which to keep her feet warm. Further, Mary has done much knitting in her earlier years and was quite a good seamstress in her day. She wishes to do this as she is bored in the nursing home and wishes to be productive.
If you think, it's a type of service you might greatly benefit, please, contact sister Campora who can give you her address and more information.
Thanks!

Paid Part-Time Job Available
Sister Mary Greenwood, RS President in Columbia 1st ward, has forward this onto us.
All, Lauren Capra, a delightful 80-year old woman from NJ, contacted the Church looking for someone who might help her adult daughter, Cathleen, 3 days a week for 2 hours a day, as she is recuperating from a car accident that has left her using a walker for a time. Neither woman is a member of the Church, but Lauren had a good feeling about Church members and called the mission home looking for a way to locate potential helpers. Cathleen Capra teaches college students M, T and W and needs help coming up the stairs to her 2nd floor apartment when she arrives home at 3:00 and would like some light housekeeping help on those days, with the possibility of also helping her get in and out of the pool and gym on her apartment premises. She does drive so does not need any help in that arena.
She is offering to pay for this help, and will need it for approximately 3 weeks, starting next week.
Summary – helper needed M, T, and W from 3-5 for three weeks. Paid position. Location is 5679 Columbia Road (apartments off of 175 and Columbia Road, near mall). Would be a great position for a college-age student or someone looking for some extra money.
If you are interested, please call Lauren or Catherine at 410-740-4278.
