Cannery Order Form: This order form has both prepackaged items (the same ones that are available for home delivery but at a cheaper price because there is no shipping--availability for pick up is somewhat limited) and the ones we are able to can ourselves at the cannery when we go. http://www.providentliving.org/pfw/multimedia/files/pfw/pdf/120974_HomeStoragePriceSheetSpring2009_pdf.pdf
Home Delivery: In a box of 6 No. 10 cans, wheat ($30.50), rice ($43.50), beans ($36.75), and oats ($23.25) are available for home delivery from the distribution center/LDS catalog. Prices include delivery. Some sisters may find it worth the extra cost to just order online by clicking a few buttons. If you have any questions, you can ask the De Graws--we've done it. http://www.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10151&langId=-1
The Church's website recommends at least 300 lbs of grains and 60 lbs of beans as the basic longer term storage for 1 adult. For wheat and pinto beans, that would cost: Delivery: $348 Pick up prepackaged from the Family Home Storage Center: $253.30 Can yourself at the Family Home Storage Center: $229.60
My personal recommendation is that you plan to can things when we go that aren't available prepackaged or delivered. Things like milk, black beans, white beans, sugar, red wheat, apple slices, carrots, macaroni, regular oats, onions, potato flakes, spaghetti, refried beans, hot cocoa, flour, and fruit drink mix. You they can just buy the prepackaged or delivered ones.
Last I checked, we can no longer bring our own stuff like bulk wheat to put in cans there. We can buy cans and check out a canner and can them at home.
